What to expect
The past year has forced companies globally to rethink most everything. This includes our understanding of the pervasive, systemic discrimination of marginalized communities. Though the topic of diversity has been on the minds of leaders for some years now, 2020 catapulted us into a new era: one where Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) needs to embody actions of justice and antiracism, and not exist solely as a hashtag.
Join two DEI veterans -- Vernā Myers, Netflix’s VP of Inclusion Strategy and Lybra Clemons, Twilio’s Chief Diversity Officer -- for a “real talk” conversation about:
- The early days of DEI and how it first manifested as a priority
- The way DEI shows up across the industry today, acknowledging what works and what doesn’t

Vernā Myers is the vice president of inclusion strategy at Netflix. She leads a team of inclusion experts who champion authentic representation and integrate inclusion and equity into all aspects of Netflix's operations worldwide. A Harvard-trained lawyer and founder of The Vernā Myers Company, Vernā is the author of Moving Diversity Forward: How to Go From Well-Meaning to Well-Doing and What If I Say the Wrong Thing? 25 Habits for Culturally Effective People. Her inspiring TED talk, "How to Overcome Our Biases? Walk Boldly Toward Them," has been viewed more than 3 million times.

Lybra S. Clemons is a seasoned c-suite executive with over 15 years of Human Resources, Talent and Diversity & Inclusion experience across a variety of Fortune 500 companies. Lybra is a proven leader in creating, building and implementing practical strategies for corporations that result in stronger retention of top talent and higher engagement of the workforce, from the front-line worker to the C-Suite.
Lybra also has a strong track record of leveraging diversity expertise and partnerships to scale product outreach and marketing to diverse communities and markets.
Currently, Lybra serves as Twilio’s first Chief Diversity Officer. Reporting directly to the CEO, Lybra sits on the executive team and is responsible for building and scaling all global diversity initiatives. Prior to Twilio, Lybra was the Global Head of Diversity at PayPal. She has also held key roles in Diversity & Inclusion at Morgan Stanley, The Brunswick Group, and American Express.
Lybra has extensive global experience in Europe, Africa, and Central America, and is frequently called upon to be a keynote speaker, coach, and advisor by global companies and organizations focused on bolstering their Diversity & Inclusion programs while building high performance teams.
Lybra serves on the Board of Directors of @Makers, How Women Lead Silicon Valley Executive Board of Advisors, and has been recognized by Black Enterprise as one of the Top Corporate Women in Diversity. She is an advisor to organizations such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Feminist Press, The Council of Urban Professionals, and Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs Black Alumni Council.
Lybra holds a B.A. in Political Science from Spelman College, a Master of Public Administration from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, and an Executive Management certificate from Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business.
